Jacqueline Bell (Gowan) Rumple, 95, of Gulfport, MS peacefully passed away in her home on Monday, February 19, 2024. Jacqueline was born in Saint Louis, MO, a daughter of one of Suffragist of the St. Louis Equal Suffrage League. Jacqueline grew-up in St. Louis at the time of street cars and Clydesdale horse-drawn wagons; she attended catholic schools, and also was nurtured in her beliefs at The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. Jacqueline met and married her soulmate, a serviceman from small-town North Carolina, in 1947. Until her final earthly days, she faithfully and steadfastly proclaimed that her life began when she married.
Jacqueline traveled as a military wife, and was a homemaker, finally settling in the Lorraine Community, with her family, in 1967 and thus remained. Jacqueline was upmost a loving and faithful wife, a loving and doting Mother and Grandma. In her later years she doted on all the neighborhood children; it was common for multiple children to go to Ms. Jackie’s for their daily visit and receive a special treat and go on their way.
Jacqueline was a master of the craft of Crocheting and generations have and generations to come will enjoy the quality, loving, attention to detail the product her tender hands crafted. Jacqueline also enjoyed Ceramics and her works, mostly dolls and such, can be found where she traveled and though-out family and friends’ homes. Most of the dolls, etc. appear almost life-like due to her attention to detail. Moreover, Jacqueline loved bowling, she was usually in women’s teams, sometime two, and traveled through-out the South in competition, even winning the MS State Championship with her teammates, Redbirds. She bowled in leagues well into her nineties.
Jacqueline was tired and the Lord called so she could finally go to her Eternal Home, as she faithfully believed. As the Lord received her home as a faithful servant, her ole Mother probably told her the same: well-done My Jackie-Girl. Once again Jacqueline is joined with her soulmate, Guy, for Eternity and finally at-rest.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband of 60-years, MSgt Guy Aaron Rumple, Sr.; her daddy, Duward William Gowan; her mother, Luella Albertina Pueschel; a stepfather, Calvin Leo DeRousse, Sr. (Pop); a sister, Norvella June Caimi; a brother, Lawrence Edwin Gowan; and two sons, Guy Aaron Rumple, Jr. (Jay) and Charles Edward Rumple; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Victor Rumple, James David Rumple, and Randy Warren Rumple; two brothers, Calvin Leo DeRousse, Jr., and Terry DeRousse; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
