James Donovan "Don" Brown

Mr. James Donovan "Don" Brown, age 82, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Don was born in Kemper County, MS and had been a resident of Ocean Springs since 1959. He graduated with his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also received a Specialist Education Degree from the University of South Alabama. Don was employed with the Ocean Springs School District for over 32 years as a teacher, coach and principal. He was a member of the Lions Club and St. Paul UMC in Ocean Springs. He also was a former Director of Schools for the Choctaw Indians. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lee Brown, Sr and Mary E. Hodges Brown, a son, Scott Brown and a brother, Charles Brown. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Judy Brown, son, Todd (Danea) Brown, daughter-in-law, Joy Brown, brother, W.L. (Eloise) Brown Jr, and five grandchildren, Katelyn, Donovan, Sarah, Marina and Crusoe. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 27, from 2pm to 4pm, with a 4 pm Celebration of Life, all at St. Paul UMC, Downtown Campus, in Ocean Springs. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
