James "Jamie" B. Cannon, 81, formerly of Clinton, MS and a Jackson native, died August 20, 2023 in Ocean Springs, MS.
Jamie was born to Andrew and Sarah Cannon on October 24, 1941 in Jackson, MS. Jamie retired from a 35 year career with Siemens Automation/ITE Electrical Products. He was a loving father, son, and grandfather who was devoted to his family and Catholic faith. He was a master on the grill – his grilled chicken leg quarters and smoked ribs were a regular staple of Sunday dinners with his smoked turkeys and hams being a Thanksgiving and Christmas tradition.
Jamie briefly served in the National Guard, where he met his lifelong friend, James A Cannon. Having the same name caused quite the confusion for the USM registrar. Many great memories were shared between the two Cannon clans over the years. Jamie was an ardent supporter of USM, especially USM football. You could always find him sporting the black and gold - SMTTT.
Jamie was preceded in death by his mother and father, older brother, Benjamin, and aunt Jesse Naylor. Jamie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dale, his two children, Angela and Richard (Dorothy), two grandchildren, Brooke Allen (Erek) and Lauren Boler (Baker), and one great-grandchild, Margot James Boler.
