James Cecil Dennis, age 74, of Gulfport, died Monday, February 15, 2010 in Gulfport.
He was born in Elmore County, Alabama and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1992.
He was employed with John Fayard Fastway Systems and Knight Transportation. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He died along with Mrs. Dennis in a house fire. They had celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in January.
He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Dennis of Winchester, VA; three sisters, Carolyn Franklin of Prattville, AL, Agatha Dennis of Opelika, AL, and Dolly Collins of Franklin, TN; and a brother, David Dennis of Lynn Haven, FL.
The family prefers memorials to Humane Society of South Mississippi, 2615 25th Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL (334-272-6501)
