Jim Jenner, age 66, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed from this life November 16, 2015 after a short illness. He died as he lived. Smiling, in good humor, and concerned only with the welfare and comfort of others.
Born in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone, April 4, 1949, Jim graduated from Balboa High School in the Panama Canal Zone in 1967. He remained close to many of his fellow “zoners”. Jim studied graphic design at the University of Southern Mississippi. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict, he established his permanent home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
He began working at McQuillan & Breckenridge Advertising Agency in 1975. Jim then joined The Guice Agency as an Art Director where, over the next 40 years, he used his eye for stylish design and deft hands to help a virtual ‘Who’s Who” of business, industry and non-profit organizations. Year after year his talent was recognized with a host of ADDY awards including several Best of Shows, and Art Director of the Year. For contributions to his industry and his community, Jim earned the Advertising Federation’s highest award, the Silver Medal.
Jim was a fervent Southern Miss fan. He was an active Alumnus and loved tailgating before home games. A devoted father, he was happiest spending time with his daughter and son. Jim enjoyed creating hand-made gifts for holidays and special events in his friends’ lives. He often served as mate on his brother-in-law Wayne Tisdale’s boat.
He attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs with his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Lagerquist Jenner, and father, H. F. Jenner.
He is survived by his children, Arden Allen Jenner of Anaheim, California and Jordan Daniel Jenner of Brooklyn, NY; his sisters, Christie Jenner and Jerrye (Wayne) Tisdale; nieces Jennifer Giordano and Reagan (Michael) McElroy; nephews Brad (Sara) Tisdale, Tyler (Bonnie) Tisdale and Michael Giordano; great nephews Trevor Giordano and Camp McElroy; great nieces Millie Ruth Tisdale, Layla Tisdale, Harper Tisdale and Charlotte Tisdale.
Jim will be sorely missed by his best friend Russ Brown and his wife Kevan. He will never be replaced in the advertising community. His closest colleagues and friends at The Guice Agency and Prime Time Agency deeply mourn his loss. The Lake Geneva cousins & friends will surely miss his spirit as will “The Girls of ‘67”.
A celebration of the life of James Allan Jenner will take place Thursday, December 3, 2015 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in downtown Ocean Springs. Visitation at 2:00 PM, service will be at 3:00 PM, reception to follow.
