James L. “Jimmy” Braun, Sr., 78, of Biloxi went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 17, 2013.
Mr. Braun was a native and lifelong resident of Biloxi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy , serving during the Korean War. Mr. Braun retired as a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and a member of U.S.S. St. Paul Association.
Mr. Braun is preceded in death by his daughters, Lana Marie Braun and Gina Braun Wilson; his parents, Russell and Louise (Ruiz) Braun; his grandson, Christopher Ryan Braun; his brother, Jay Braun; and his daughter-in-law, Kaye Braun.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Yvonne Braun; his daughter, Danielle Braun; his sons, James “Jimmy” Braun, Glenn Braun and David Braun; his sisters, Judy Diaz; his brother, Bobby (Linda) Braun; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral, St. Vincent de Paul, 870 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
