James “Jimmy” Robert Brodie, 86, of Biloxi, died Sunday, April 28, 2013.
Jimmy was born to the late Robert and Virginia Brodie on June 4, 1926 in Biloxi, MS. He was a proud WWII Veteran serving in the Navy on LST-932.
Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Brodie Road, running Brodie’s Biloxi Nursery until their move to Woolmarket. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Theodora “Dodie” Brodie; his son, Captain Robert L. (Brenda) Brodie; his grandson, Danny Brodie; his granddaughter, Tiffany (Joel) Bernacchi; his three great-granddaughters, Olivia, Liliana and (expected in July) Amelia; and countless friends.
Both Jimmy and Dodie were legendary for their forty years of catching Crappies, Bluegills and Shellcrackers on the Biloxi River and Tchoutacabouffa River, some of their most memorable times together.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Gentiva Hospice with a Special thanks to Paul Cook, RN and Lisa Basset, CNA for the dignity and compassion shown to Jimmy. Also, many thanks to Dr. Paul Pavlov, who took care of Jimmy for the last twenty years.
