James Joseph Carell

James Joseph Carell, 91, of Diamondhead, MS, formerly of Kenilworth, NJ died Thursday, July 31, 2008 in Biloxi, MS. James was a childhood Vaudeville Star at the Empire Theatre in Newark, NJ, a personnel specialist at Lea Fabrics, Inc. and a post office clerk in Kenilworth, NJ. He was a WWII Combat Veteran and a medic in Patton's 5th Army. James was also President of Kenilworth, NJ Senior Citizens, a member of VFW, a member, usher and active volunteer of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church and he belonged to the Lions Club and Nomehegan Swim Club. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances Carell, his parents, Charles and Christina Carell, sisters, Theresa Norbut, Marie Molinaro, brothers, Ernest, Joseph and Stephen Carell. He is survived by his daughter, Kathie (Robert) Esher of Diamondhead, MS and his two grandchildren, Scott Esher of Seattle, WA and Lt. Leslie Esher of San Diego, CA. Because he loved to perform in Vaudeville, in lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the post-Katrina restoration of the Bay St. Louis Little Theater, 220 Main St., Bay St. Louis, MS 39520. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 8, 2008, 12 noon at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where friends may visit one hour prior. Interment is in Biloxi National Cemetery.
