James P. (Jim) O’Keefe Bio James "Jim" Patrick O'Keefe of Long Beach, MS peacefully went to be with His Heavenly Father on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the age of 60. Jim was a devoted husband, father, son, and grandfather. Jim attended Notre Dame and graduated from Biloxi High School in 1969. He later received a Mortuary Science Degree from Commonwealth College in Houston. Jim was President of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home until he left to pursue his ministry. Jim owned and operated several businesses, the last being Rose's Florist. He also owned and operated Gulf Printing & Advertising, Dixie Springs Water, Captain Ed’s Seafood, and the Espress O’House. Jim was currently Executive Director of O'Keefe Educational Media. He has served on many boards including the O’Keefe Foundation and the New Hope Foundation. He is past member of the Biloxi Lions Club; Rotary International, participating in the business exchange to Chili, past President of Dixie Youth Baseball, past President and Chaplain of the Biloxi Edgewater Civitan Club, and past Chaplain of MS Magnolia Civitan District Board. Jim was an author, speaker, and Licensed Instrument Pilot. Jim is a Minister, licensed under Faith Christian Fellowship in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a Minister, Jim served through a variety of organizations. Jim was a Chaplain of Gideons International, Founding President of the Biloxi Chapter of Full Gospel Businessmen, Advisor of Women’s Aglow Fellowship; he was a former pastor of Oasis Christian Family Fellowship in Long Beach; and actively served with the Kairos Prison Ministry. Through prayer, counseling and ministry he expressed his passion of love and charity towards others. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Ben O'Keefe and Teresa "Tess" Slattery O'Keefe; his beloved mother, Annette Saxon O'Keefe and his older brother, Jeremiah "Jody" O'Keefe. He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Barrett O'Keefe; daughters, Kellie Christin O'Keefe and Courtney Rose O'Keefe; sons, Christopher Michael O'Keefe (Hannah), Kevin John O'Keefe, and Caleb Barrett O'Keefe; granddaughter, Stella Rose O'Keefe; father, Jeremiah Joseph (Jerry) O'Keefe (Martha); eleven siblings and their families, Maureen Ward (Pat), Cecilia Neustrom (Michael), Kathryn Kaye (John), Virginia M. O’Keefe, Susan Snyder (Chris), John M. O’Keefe, Mary (Bob) Snell, Jeffrey (Lynn) O’Keefe, Justin (Teresa) O’Keefe, Mercedes (David) Huval, Joseph (Stephanie) O’Keefe. Jim also leaves behind a wealth of devoted friends. If desired, the family would like donations to the Gideons International Worldwide Bible Ministry, Biloxi Camp-Box 4378, Biloxi, MS 39535. A visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon with a 12:00 noon chapel service. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
