Mr. James Q. "Jim" Morris, Sr., age 85, of the St. Martin Community, died Monday, May 19, 2008, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Morris was a lifelong resident of the coast. He served in the US Army during WWII and retired from civil service in 1976. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5654, the Holy Name Society, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Confornity of Christian Doctrine. He was also very active in St. Alphonsus Catholic School and Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Seymour Morris and two brothers,
Terrell "Tut" Morris and Joseph Lawrence Morris, Jr.
Survivors include two sisters, Beryl (Perry) Fountain of the St. Martin Community and Marietta Fountain of Ocean Springs, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many other family members.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, from 6-8 PM, with a 7 PM Rosary, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, May 21, 2008, there will be an 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where friends may visit from 10 AM - 11 AM. Burial will follow in Ryan Cemetery in North Biloxi.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 8272, Gulfport, MS. 39506.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
