James Cook Reed

James Cook Reed, Sr., age 93, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014. James was born in Gulfport, MS on June 17, 1920 and was a resident of the Gulf Coast. He had a great love for life which was fulfilled through his surroundings of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. James was a member of the Army National Guard. He had a passion for music and dancing. He is now dancing again with the love his life, Donna Jean, wife of 63 years. He was a member of the Grace Memorial Baptist Church of Gulfport, MS. He was truly a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed. James is preceded in death by his parents Robert Sr. and Emma Reed; loving wife, Donna Jean; and 12 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his 3 sons, James Reed, Jr., Dennis Reed and Rodney Reed (Karen); daughter, Sharon Spragio (Royal, Jr.); 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. A graveside service will be held at D’Iberville Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
