James Charles “Jimpaw” Rushing, 94, of Woolmarket, MS passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Collins State Veterans Home in Collins, MS.
Mr. Rushing was born in Biloxi, MS on December 21, 1927 to Charles William and Ina Campbell Rushing. He worked hard raising his children, goats, Bassett Hounds and Christmas trees. Mr. Rushing was employed with the VA Hospital in Biloxi as a Boiler Room Operator. He enjoyed making cast nets and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Helen Louise Godwin Rushing; his parents, Charles William and Ina Campbell Rushing; his brothers, Bill Rushing and Luther Rushing; his son-in-law, Ronnie Goff; his great-granddaughter, Victoria Wilson; and his brother-in-law, Bunyan Pierce.
Mr. Rushing’s survivors include his daughters, Connie (Rod) Johnson, Linda (Austin) Cooper and Patricia (Levis) Moore; his son, Kenneth Rushing; his grandchildren, Bridget (Randy) Logan, Britney Rosenzweig, Brooke (Eric) Sanchez, Bethany Rushing, Chelsea (Ryan) Porter, Haley Rushing, Jessica (Joe) Wicker, Selena Cooper, Ryan (Haley) Moore and Emily (Hunter) Ratliff; eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way; his sister, Winona Pierce; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Collins State Veterans Home in Collins, MS.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to Cedar Lake United Methodist Church Building Fund, 12332 Cedar Lake Road, Biloxi, MS 39532 (228-392-9585).
Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Friends may visit from 1:00 pm until service time. Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
