Mr. James Scott Harrell, 42, of Gautier, died at home on Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Gautier.
Mr. Harrell was a longtime resident of the coast. He graduated from St. Martin High School. He attended Mississippi State University, served in the Army National Guard, and attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He then enlisted in the United States Navy as a Submarnier where he served in Mystick, Conn., Vallejo, California, and Washington State. Upon separation from the Navy, he enjoyed NASCAR and watching Brett Farve whether he played with the Packers or the Jets. He loved nature and animals, but most of all he loved his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Claudia Harrell and his father-in-law, D.W. Burkes.
He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca Burkes- Harrell; his father, Jimmy M. Harrell; his sister, Lorna Hanson and his nephew, Andrew Hanson; two step-sons, Derek and Dane Moreton, and two grandchildren, Jackson and Anders Moreton.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
