James Larry Smith, age 80, of Biloxi, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Gulfport.

James was born on June 22, 1942, in Weston, West Virginia, to parents Adrian Glenn Smith and Nancy Keaton. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served for 30 years. During his service, he received the following decorations: AF Longevity Service Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. James enjoyed NASCAR, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Glenn Smith and Nancy Keaton; a grandchild, Ricky Brand; and siblings, Sue Valero, Vicky Pasquale, and William Smith.

Survivors include his spouse, Diane J. Smith; children, James S. Smith (Vickie) and Kristina J. Cappie; grandchildren, Christian J. Cappie, James Cole Smith, Britnei Casbon (Jason), Julius Casbon (Diana), and Brennon Casbon; siblings, Diane (Dave) Smith and Becky Sopranik; and many other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and sisters-in-law.

Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS. A graveside service will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
