James "Keith" Thorp

James “Keith” Thorp, age 82, of Vancleave, Mississippi passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his residence.

Keith was born on December 6, 1940 to James Otho Thorp and Ollie Otho Thorp in Snyder, Oklahoma. He attended school in Snyder. Keith joined the Air Force from 1959 to 1962. He later became employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding where he worked as a chipper from 1965 to 2001. He had a passion for fishing and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Otho Thorp and Ollie Otho Thorp; wife, Kay Thorp; and brothers, Gilbert Wayne Thorp and Weldon Thorp.

He is survived by his children, Daphine Lizana, LaWanda (Wayne) Waltman, Jennifer (Dale) Bufkin, James Thorp, Robert Thorp, and Pamela Walley; siblings; Janell William and Eldon Thorp; and eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Kare in Homes and Hospice of Light.

A funeral service will be held on February 16, 2023 at Pine Lake Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Thorp Family Cemetery. A visitation will be held on February 15, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Vancleave from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
