James Glenn Torgerson,

James Glenn Torgerson, Sr., 74, of Vancleave, MS, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, surrounded by his family at his beloved home. He was born May 15, 1946, in Moss Point, MS, to Claude and Mary Torgerson. He was employed as a field engineer for Ingalls Shipbuilding for 42 years, but that was not his only passion. He also logged many hours on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico in his shrimp boat, which he lovingly named after his wife and two daughters, and joined his son as a part-time long-haul truck driver. After retirement, he was never content with unnecessarily sitting idle, and there was no limit to his tenacious desire to conquer any project that came his way. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) King Torgerson; son, James G. (Glennie) Torgerson, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jeff Roberts; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Todd Thompson; six grandchildren, Cody Frierson (Fiancée Jacqueline Morris), Brittany (Zack) Hearndon, Hedi (Daniel) Sullivan, Hayden (Kylie) Roberts, Josh Roberts, Hollis Thompson; and three great-grandchildren, Bransen, Braden and Brysen Hearndon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mary Torgerson; brothers, Kenny Torgerson and Dennis (Jim) Torgerson; and grandson, Gentry Thompson. The family would like to extend their gratitude towards Hospice of Light and his caregivers for their care and support during his final days. Visitation will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs, MS, on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., with procession immediately following to Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs, MS.
