James "Gramps" Usry

James (Gramps) Usry, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Monday, September 30, 2024 in Ocean Springs Hospital.

Born in Neshoba County, MS, he moved to Ocean Springs in 1985. He was a dedicated and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who enjoyed spending his time with those closest to him. He loved providing for his family and worked diligently as a lineman for 38 years. He returned to service after Hurricane Katrina, climbing power poles at age 66. He will be dearly missed especially by the ones fortunate enough to call him Gramps.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Emma Usry.

Survivors include his loving and caring wife of 63 years, Ruby (Kathy) Usry; sister, DeeDee Ryals, 3 children; Kent Usry, Karl Usry (Reshelle) and Kristi Pulliam (John); 4 grandchildren, Shelby Nichols (Tylar), Austin Usry, and Ian and Josh Pulliam and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
