James V. Chism

Mr. James V. "Chiz" Chism, age 94, of Mobile, AL., died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Chism enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was the owner and operator of Chiz's Motel and Restaurant in Tupelo, MS. for many years. He was a member of Seven Hills Baptist Church of Mobile, a longtime member of Wade Baptist Church in Wade, MS. and a 32nd Degree Shriner. He was also a Colonel on the Mississippi Governors's staff. Survivors include his devoted wife, Louise Chism of Ocean Springs, MS., two daughters, Donna (Chip) Mercier and Sherry (Coy) Bell, two sons, Butch (Mary Ann) Chism and Larry (Janet) Chism, ten grandchildren, Jeremy Chism, Lisa Chism, Thomas Chism, Rhett Chism, Michelle Hartley, Heather Mercier, Ashley Martinez, Leah York, Anthony Seymour and Joey Seymour, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 29, 2009, from 10 AM - 11 AM, with an 11 AM chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Reverend Mike Staton will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
