Mrs. Jamie Waddell Hengen, a true Southern Lady of Biloxi, MS, died Sunday, November 26, 2006, in Biloxi. Mrs. Hengen was born May 1, 1919, in Erwin, Tennessee, and had been a resident of Louisville, Kentucky. She spent most of her childhood growing up Fairhope, Alabama before moving to Biloxi. She was a 1939 graduate of Biloxi High School and employed with the First National Bank of Biloxi (now Bancorp South). She and Louis Hengen were married December 15, 1948 at The Episcopal Church of The Redeemer by Rev. E. A. DeMiller. Mrs. Hengen was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Hengen in 1989; parents, James H. and Mollie C. Waddell. Survivors include her daughters, Sheri H. Nelson and her husband, Steve, of Iuka, MS, and Jamie Lynn H. Swan and her husband, George, of Baton Rouge, LA; son, Wayne L. Hengen of Biloxi, and grandchildren, Heather Hengen of Cordova, TN, Louis Hengen of Washington, D.C., David Nelson, Stacey Nelson and Mollie Nelson all of Iuka, MS. Visitation is Tuesday, November 28, 2006, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be made to one's favorite charity.
