Janal Marie Dartez Johnson

Janal Marie Dartez Johnson, age 62, of Gulfport, Ms. drifted away peacefully into everlasting sleep on January 11, 2012 in Gulfport. Janal was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. She was born in Abbeville, La. and then moved to the Mississippi Coast as a small child with her older sister, Judy and her parents, Loda and Luke Dartez. Janal graduated from Biloxi High School and then attended business college. She then started her long time career in business administration. Janal worked for Gulfshores Inc, Galloway & Galloway CPA’s, and her last place of employment was with American Medical Response before her health prevented her from continuing work. She loved puttering around her home with her husband and rabbits, flowers and bird watching. She took great pride in the home she helped rebuild and decorate following Hurricane Katrina. Janal is preceded in death by, her parents, Loda and Luke Dartez her sister, Judy Ann Hughes and her husband, Carl Johnson, a grandchild, Naomi Johnson. She is survived by step children Gary Johnson (Sheila) of South Dakota, Karla Roberts (Kevin)of Florida, Kevin Johnson(Lea)of Gulfport, Veronica Walker of Gulfport and her two nephews George Hughes (Audrey) of Biloxi and Charles Hughes of Florida; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren with one on the way, many great nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 12 noon at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
