Jane Ellison Williams was born in Mobile, Alabama. Alabama was her cornerstone and capstone as she journeyed across the planet with her parents and then with her husband and family.
Her passion for life fueled her love for her family and friends. Growing up in a military family taught her resilience and gave her the strength that she brought into her lifelong love with her husband, Thurmon Williams. After their marriage in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, they enjoyed an adventurous and exciting journey that took them all across the United States and later the globe.
Her family began with her first son Jon Allen (wife Heather) in Tennessee, followed by Mark Thomas (wife Michelle) in Illinois and Clayton Samuel in Spain. She adopted each city, country and region as they travelled and raised their family. Through the years she thrived in her parenting, love and athleticism. In her free time she had an exuberance for sports that was most evidenced by her skill at tennis and her enduring love for her alma mater, The University of Alabama. She was a great leader, a member and elder in Handsboro Presbyterian Church, Gulfport, an exemplary mother and a role model for her family, seven grandchildren and community. Her wisdom, love and strength will forever resonate in her family and friends.
With great adoration her sister, Cindy Latham (with the support of her loving husband Jerry), stayed by her side with devotion and love through her illness.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. at Handsboro Presbyterian Church, 1304 E. Pass Road, Gulfport.
