Janet Lee Smith

Janet Lee Smith, age 85, of Gulfport, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

Janet was born on August 23, 1938 in Belleville, IL. She was employed at the MGCCC Bookstore. Janet volunteered at O’Neal Road Church of Christ. She enjoyed doing needlework on plastic canvas, Atlanta Braves baseball, and baking with her granddaughter.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Roland J. Smith and her parents, J.W. and Alma Landes.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Fitchie (Joel); grandchildren, Theresa Fitchie and Christopher Fitchie; and brothers, Gary Landes and Dale Landes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to O’Neal Road Church of Christ and Gulfport Care Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the O’Neal Road location of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O’Neal Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to O’Neal Road Church of Christ, 15121 O’Neal Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
