Janice (Miss Jan) Farrell, of Gulfport, passed away Friday August 13, 2021 after a month long battle with an illness.
Born January 6, 1945 to Emil & Pearl Block in Sisseton SD, she was the wife of Paul D. Farrell (USN Retired). The couple met in Cavour SD, traveled the US and abroad during his career and settled in Gulfport. She was active in the VFW, Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary, Red Hat Society and volunteered with Toys for Tots. Her favorite pastime was Bingo with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Farrell; infant daughter Holly Marie Farrell; parents Emil & Pearl Block; infant sister Geraldine; brothers Rodney and Jim Block.
She is survived by her daughter Melanie Gardner (John); son Patrick Farrell (Malinda); grandson Ron Paul Beaver (Brittane); and granddaughters Hillary Thompson (Jeremy), Shelbie Farrell (fiancé Colby Hartford), and Alyssa Farrell (fiancé Ian Buker); great grandchildren Abigail Shaw, Lilith Beaver, Layney Thompson, Julian Thompson, Hunter Thompson and Asher Hartford; siblings Emily Nappolini (Louie), Lois Kuhr (Tim), Roger Block (Sharon), Corinne Gearhart, (Terry Jacobsen), Robin Henderson (Tom), and Michael Block (Stacey Reynolds); nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Mrs. Farrell will be laid to rest with her husband in the Biloxi National Cemetery. The memorial service is postponed at this time.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and/or The American Red Cross.
