Janie Lou Head of Long Beach, age 68, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in Gulfport. She was a native of the Gulf Coast almost 40 years. Janie was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and The First Baptist Church of Gulfport. She worked in the home health industry for 30 plus years. She was Billing Manager for Quality Home Health for almost 20 years. Her family was her life, and she was an extremely loving wife and mother. She was a trusting and loyal friend to everyone. She was an amazingly strong woman right up to her last breath, and fought a long and hard four year battle with cancer that ultimately took her precious life. She was so loved and will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parent; Edward Cox and Etta Daugherty Cox; a brother, John Elmer Cox. She is survived by her husband of 47 wonderful years, Lt. Col. (Retired) James A. Head, Jr. of Long Beach; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Head of Biloxi; son, James A. Head, III of Biloxi; sisters, Sue Vena Cox Morton, Nancy Lee Cox Hickey; sisters-in-law, Brenda Cox, Sarah “Penny” Head (David) Cobb, Betty Head (Charles) McReynolds; brothers, Edward Cox, Jr., Ray Dean Cox, Bobby Cox; mother-in-law Helen Head.
Visitation Tuesday, December 13, 2011, 11:30 A.M. until 1:15 P.M. with Funeral Services to follow at 1:15 P.M., BRADFORD-O’KEEFE FUNERAL HOME, 15TH Street, Gulfport.
