J. Basil Semanchick, 89, of Long Beach, died Sunday, February 6, 2005 in Gulfport. Mr. Semanchick was born in Mount Pleasant, PA and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1980
Mr. Semanchick attended Penn State University, served as a Captain in the Merchant Marines, and worked as a coalminer and was a Union Organizer in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. He was employed by Worthington in Buffalo, NY and also by Transamerica. He was a dedicated member of the Long Beach Democratic Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Semanchick; and a son, David Kerr.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Semanchick of Long Beach; two sons, Storm Kerr of New Orleans, LA, and Rex Kerr (Kris) of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Michael Semanchick of Minersville, PA; nephews and grand nieces in PA and a niece in WA.
There will be a gathering in memory of Mr. Semanchick on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 4:30 p.m. at the Downtown Delights , 405 Jeff Davis Avenue, Long Beach.
