J. C. Cook, age 72, of Gulfport, died Monday, June 2, 2008 in Gulfport. He was born in Fayette, AL and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1972. Mr. Cook was a retired painter and sheet rock finisher.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary K. Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Cook of Gulfport; a daughter, Joyce Cook of Columbus; a step-daughter, Estelle Tolley of Saucier; three sons, Howard Cook, Gary Cook, and Paul Cook all of Columbus; three step-sons, George L. Baker, Lonzo B. Baker, and Gerald W. Baker, all of Gulfport; a sister, Elizabeth Adkins of Alabama; a brother, Edward Cook of Colorado Springs, Co; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and staff of Garden Park Medical Center; Gulfport Memorial Hospital and Canon Hospice.
The graveside service will be Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Wolf River Cemetery in Harrison County with visitation a half hour before at the graveside.
