Jeanette Stephanie Cerinich Capuano, 94, was welcomed into the glorious kingdom of God on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, when she passed away in her home, surrounded by her children. She was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and a parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
Jeanette was born on September 11, 1928 to Peter and Alena Sekul Cerinich. She was a graduate of Biloxi High School. Jeanette married the love of her life, Louis E. Capuano Sr., on April 27, 1947. Together they raised five children and shared twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great grandson. She was a member of the L’Avaniers, the Slavic Ladies Auxiliary, the Tuesday Coffee Club and the Thursday Sekul Girls Night Out. Jeanette was loved by everyone she ever met. She always had an open door and empty seat at her table. She made everyone feel welcome, loved and like they had her complete attention. She had the most beautiful soul that was devoted to her family and her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Nick Cerinich, her sister Patsy Powell, her daughter Stephanie Capuano, and her daughter in law Linda Kostmayer Capuano. She was survived by her sons Louis E. Capuano Jr., Peter Capuano (Karen), Nick Capuano (Kathy), daughter Laurie Capuano Herring (Jody), her brother in law Joseph “Sonny” Powell and grandchildren Dawn, Christie, Jason, Lisa, Alana, Peter, Joseph, Louie III, Justin, Paul, Mark and Ellen. She will always be deeply loved by her 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great in addition to her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on Monday, February 6, 2023. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial. A reception will be held at the Slavonian Lodge after the services are concluded. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Hospital or the Ainsley Foundation.
