Jeanne Marie Barhonovich Baker, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.
Jeanne Marie was born on May 14, 1951 and was raised on Point Cadet in Biloxi. She worked many hours at her father’s side at Progress Printing Company and was a devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Slavonian Ladies Auxiliary.
Jeanne Marie was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Biloxi. She earned both a Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She went on to teach Nursing at Hinds Community College until she became a full-time mother to her three daughters who were her pride and joy.
Jeanne Marie volunteered countless hours in support of our Catholic schools and attended many sports games while her daughters, nieces, and nephews attended Mercy Cross. She had a passion for capturing memories through her photography. Her dedication and unconditional love for her entire family was well known as was her generosity and ever-present smile.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank P. Barhonovich, Jr. and Amelia Lechner Barhonovich; sister, Victoria “Vicki” Marie Barhonovich; and brother, Frank P. Barhonovich III.
Jeanne Marie is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Baker Lewis (Zach), Jenna Marie Baker, and Jane-Claire Baker Davison (Dwight); grandchildren, Cade Lewis, Eliza Lewis, Preston Davison and Marianne Davison; siblings, Kathy Lang and Mario Barhonovich (Michelle); nieces, Carolyn Senseney Fisher (Ryan), Elizabeth Barhonovich, and Hannah Barhonovich Wilborn; nephews, Richard Barhonovich, JJ Lang (Kristen), Jonathan Lang (Kacee), and Aaron Barhonovich (Justina); and many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank both the Lighthouse Assisted Living and Memory Care nurses and staff and Saad Hospice nurses and staff for their loving care and support. A special thank you to Jeff O'Keefe and the caring staff of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will be at Biloxi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or St. Vincent DePaul both located at 177 First Street, Biloxi, MS 39530. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Jeanne Marie Barhonovich Baker.
