Jennie Dew Boon O'Keefe

Mrs. Jennie Dew Boon O’Keefe, age 86, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Ocean Springs, MS. Jennie was born November 29, 1929 in Birmingham, AL to the late William Alonzo Boon and Marjorie Brown Boon. As a young woman she was an avid girl scout, graduated from Biloxi High School and attended U.S.M. College and L.S.U. Jennie married J. Ben O’Keefe, Sr. on June 20th, 1954. She was a lifelong homemaker and caregiver to her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting Depression Era glassware and Shearwater pottery. She also enjoyed treating Tatonuts and/or pizza to the Jackson County Sherriff Department, the MS State Troopers, numerous charities, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Ben O’Keefe, Sr.; parents; sister; Jane Taylor; brother & sister-in-law, John (Sue) O’Keefe; sister-in-law, Annette O’Keefe; and sister & brother-in-law, Alice (Leo) Sebastian. Survivors include her children, Laurie O’Keefe (Daniel) Delashmit and J. Ben (Kathleen) O’Keefe, Jr.; grandchildren, Juan, Heather, Robin, Nicholas and Audrey; Brothers, Bill (Darlene) Boon and Jim Boon; brother & sister-in-law, Jerry and Martha O’Keefe; and too many additional extended family members and friends to list. Services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will be held at a later date at Biloxi National Cemetery.
