Mr. Jerome William Mathieu, age 83, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Friday, November 4, 2005, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Mathieu was born on August 31, 1922, to the late William and Edwina Mathieu. He was a lifelong resident of the Fountainbleau Community and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an honorable decorated veteran and of the Catholic faith.
He was also preceded in death by his sons, Calvin Mathieu and Terry "Sam" Gildea, sisters, Gloria Ely and Bernadette Scara, and brothers, Paul LaVern Mathieu and Stanley Mathieu, grandchildren, Jerry Dewayne McVeay, Mandy Gildea, Joey Gildea, and Roger Harris, and his first wife, Nancy Mathieu.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Mathieu, six daughters, Jeane and Duane Hovis, Brenda Patrick, Rose Marie Garvey, Annie and George Ryan, Theresa and James Blair, and Gloria and Kevin Amacker, all of Ocean Springs, MS., four sons, Eugene and Nora Gildea, of Vancleave, Mike and Connie Gildea, Joseph and Dawn Gildea, and Daniel and Chastity Mathieu, all of Ocean Springs, MS., fourteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and faithful cousins, Bessie and Ronnie Parker of Vancleave.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, from 10 AM - 11:30 AM, with an 11:30 AM Celebration of Life service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
