Jerry Julian Hill, Jr. passed away Wednesday, April 17, surrounded by family. He would have been 66 years old on July 1. A lifelong resident of Gulfport, MS, Jerry was a lover of all things water. He was known as “Hillyfish” by his friends, and he always had a story to tell about their adventures. He had a knack for making people laugh with his goofy personality, and he loved to embarrass his children with his singing and dancing. He wanted every holiday to be the most special for his family. He was obnoxious with his holiday spirit, and you couldn’t help but be festive right along with him. He had a big personality, and you knew when he was in the room.
He graduated from Gulfport High School in 1971 before attending the University of Southern Mississippi. There he got a degree in Marketing. Over his lifetime, he founded several successful businesses, including Oxycare- a medical equipment company that was well-known along the gulf coast.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Betty Hill, and his grandparents, Charles Upton and Thelma Canon. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wendi Hill, his children, Kara (CT) White and Kalyn Hill, his grandson Carter White and another grandchild on the way, his two brothers, Lawrence (Cindy) Hill and Chris Hill, one sister, Randye Berryhill, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Kallie.
A visitation will be held at Bradford O’Keefe at 1726 15th Street in Gulfport. It will be Saturday, April 27, from 12:00-2:00 with a celebration of life to follow from 2:00-3:00. A private interment will be later.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coastal Conservation Association at the following address: CCA-MS, PO Box 3916, Bay St. Louis, MS 39521.
