Jerrye Maxine Nix

Jerrye Maxine Nix, age 88, of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022.

Ms. Nix, most knew her as Maxine, was a longtime resident of Gulfport. She received her Teaching Credentials and Master’s Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and was a longtime teacher at Pass Road Elementary School. Maxine was member of Unity Church of Gulfport and an Elks Lodge member where she enjoyed helping in Bingo. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, P. O. And Ola May; sister, Tina (Wesa) Lipscomb; and brothers, David, Bob, and Lewis Nix.

Maxine is survived by her sons, James and Richard Keith; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Nix family.

In lieu of flowers donations to Unity Church of Gulfport, 1700 E. Railroad Street, Gulfport, MS 39501 or an animal shelter which were causes close to Maxine’s heart would be appreciated.
