Jesse Jerome Godine was born on January 27, 1946 in Gulfport to the late Willie and Mioma Godine.
Jesse attended Thiry-Third Avenue High School and the Piney Woods School in Piney Woods, MS. He worked at the Chattanooga Glass Plant for 22 years. After leaving Chattanooga Glass Plant, Jesse worked at the Grand Casino in Gulfport as a cook until his health began to fail. He was reared in Haven Chapel United Methodist Church, and later in life he became a faithful member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Jesse departed this life on Sunday, July 3, 2011. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Willie and Mioma Godine; three brothers, Charles, Bolton (Clifford) and Roy Godine; and one sister, Sharion Parkman Stokes.
Jesse leaves to mourn his passing his loving and devoted children, sons; Reginald (Charlene) Godine, and Devon Boykins, both of Gulfport; daughters: Denise McNair of Dallas, TX and Twanda Godine
of Hampton, GA; one brother: Joseph (Clara) Godine of Meridian; three sisters: Mrs. Oradean Parsons of Memphis, TN, Ms. Betty Bailey and Mrs. Marsha Ann (Limmie) Beal of Gulfport; nine grandchildren: Sekoiah Love, Mecca Hakim, Jahmel Godine, Ja'Anna Godine, Yasmine Hakim, Yakin Hakim, Kevin (Tremayne) Godine, Jonathan Smith II, and Triston Godine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Connie Davis; and longtime close friends: Mr. Charles Broach, Mr. John Bryant, and Mr. Early Markham.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church located at 3208 21st Street, Gulfport. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
