Jessie Floyd Welch

Jessie Floyd Welch went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. He leaves his wife, Merredithe, daughter, Teresa Magee, sons, Shannon Favre, Donald Koonce, Charles Welch, Robert Welch, Johnny Welch, and many loving grandchildren; great grandchildren; and friends. Jessie was raised in Uriah, AL, moving to the Gulf Coast in the sixties where he learned the typewriter business. His customers referred to him as Jessie. Being crippled as a child, he had a big heart for everybody, especially the elderly, babies, and animals. He was a simple man enyoying a simple life. He never met a stranger. Loving all sports: fishing, NASCAR, football, and camping, he and his wife traveled the country, visiting the Elk Lodges along the way. He was a member of Gulfport BPOE #978. Jessie was a loving man, friend, son, brother, husband, and father. He will be missed by many forever. In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Mississippi Chapter, 1907 Dunbarton Dr., Ste. C, Jackson, MS 39216. The funeral service will be Friday, June 11, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. with an Elks Memorial Service at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport where friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until the service.
