Mrs. Jo Ann Eakes, 62, of Biloxi, formerly of Philadelphia, Mississippi died Wednesday, April 23, 2013 in Biloxi.
She was born and reared in the Deemer community of Neshoba County. She received her LPN degree from Meridian Community College in 1992 and returned to school in 1996 receiving her RN degree. Mrs. Eakes worked as a travel nurse for two years across America and was a hospice nurse for ten years. She had worked for We Care Hospice in Moss Point the past two years. She loved to read, crochet and fish.
Mrs. Eakes is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Mack Eakes; parents, Woodrow Wilson and Eunice Ruth Rhodes; son, Andy Lynn Price; and brother, Woody “Tuffy” Rhodes.
Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Jo Bryan and her husband, Randy of Philadelphia and Amber Nicole Keen and her husband, Robin of Biloxi; sons, John Shannon Eakes and his wife, Jammie of Philadelphia and Jason Scott Eakes and his wife, Winnie of Philadelphia; ten grandchildren; sister, Joyce Collins and her husband, Wayne of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 26 from the chapel of McClain Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia, Mississippi with interment following in McClain Chapel Church Cemetery in the Neshoba Community.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 9 p.m. at McClain Hays Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
