JoAnn Fowler Mattox, 75, of Biloxi, MS, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006. Mrs. Mattox was born on July 18, 1930 in Jackson, MS. She was a resident of the Gulf Coast area for over 30 years, where she raised her three children after many years traveling and living abroad with the Foreign Service. In her early years she was a school teacher in Alabama and on the Coast. She also loved showing her Australian Sheppards and Skippekees in the local dog shows.
Mrs. Mattox is preceded in death by her parents, J. Patrick and Wilma Saucier Fowler, one sister, Patricia Fowler Gibbs, and her grandmother, Levert Parker Batson.
Survivors include her three children, Robert Mattox of Washington, D.C., Richard Mattox of Gulfport, MS, Rosalind Kuhn and her husband Alvin of Biloxi, MS, five grandchildren, Aaron Mattox, Amber Mattox, Meagon Kuhn, Marshall Kuhn, and Jordan Kuhn.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. A graveside service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 7, 2006 in Poplarville City Cemetery. The family prefers memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
