Joann Farr O’Barr, 82, passed away in Biloxi, MS on Monday, August 20, 2018.
Mrs. O’Barr was born in Houston, MS on November 21, 1936, and graduated from Houston High School in 1953, with high honors. She was a majorette three years and drum majorette her senior year for the Hilltopper’s marching band. In high school she was elected campus favorite and most beautiful, among many other honors. In 1954, she married Bobby G. O’Barr, Sr. and they moved to Oxford, MS, for Mr. O’Barr to attend law school at Ole Miss. After living in Houston, Clinton and Pascagoula, the family settled in Biloxi in 1969. Joann taught Sunday School while her children were growing up and worked in various positions as a secretary/office manager while her husband was starting his career. Her most challenging and rewarding job and where she found true happiness was raising her four children. After her children were grown, she went to work with her daughter’s new company at the time, O’Barr & Associates, as an office manager and helped grow the business to one of the largest court reporting companies in the southeast. Joann was a vivacious, outgoing, intelligent and beautiful Southern lady that loved nature, lively conversation and playing bridge with her friends. Her greatest joy and pleasure was as a mother and grandmother and she remained steadfastly devoted to them throughout her life. She will be sadly missed by all.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Daphne O’Barr for the care and support she provided to Joann during the last several years.
