Joe Seward, age 91, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where he lived for 49 years.
Joe was born in Denison, Texas and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He completed a career in the United States Air Force where he was a pilot, instructor pilot, flight examiner, and a logistics officer. After retiring from the Air Force in 1970, Joe worked as a communicator for the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium and as a maintenance management analyst for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Tehran, Iran. In 1980 he joined Litton Data Systems and worked for sixteen years in quality assurance, and technical/engineering writer editor. Joe was an avid reader, prolific writer, competent photographer, enjoyed framing paintings, and was a dedicated long-distance runner and cyclist. He obtained a BA in Secondary Education and a Masters in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. Joe had an exceptional memory when it came to facts and dates, and people gravitated toward him when they wanted to engage in conversations about history and the Constitution.
Joe is the son of the late Joe Seward and Dixie McClain Seward of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his talented artist wife of 63 years, Norma Seward and 4 children, Joe Seward III, Cynthia Green (Daniel), Dixie Seward, and Lynn Howard. Joe held close to his religion and served as a Deacon and Elder at the Ocean Springs Presbyterian Church.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral home is honored to serve the Seward family.
