Joe Frank Vanhooser "Pops", 82, of Biloxi, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023.

Joe was born November 9, 1941 in Gainesboro, TN to Jewel and Perry Frank Vanhooser. He attended Jackson County High School and then joined the United States Air Force. In 1991, Joe retired from the US Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant. Later, he worked at Keesler Federal Credit Union as a Board Member. He was also Co-founder of the Military Bass Angler Organization and a Member of Rodenberg Church of Christ. He was known for being an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jewel and Perry Frank Vanhooser; brother, Bob Vanhooser; and wife of over 57 years, Betty Mai Vanhooser.

Survivors include his children, Melodie Durlak (Michael), Kimberly Wood (Scott), and Joe Vanhooser Jr. (Jamie); grandchildren, Tara Junkert (Laura), Tabitha Goodwin (Tom), Danielle Durlak, and Nicole Durlak all from Melodie and Michael, Kaila Fuller (Kyle) and Garrett Wood (Maria) all from Kimberly and Scott, and Jessica Green, Amber Green, Christopher Vanhooser, Noah Vanhooser, and Jaxon Vanhooser all from Joe Jr. and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Gabby McNair from Nicole Durlak, Caiden from Tara Junkert, Andrew Fuller from Kaila Fuller, and Gage Green from Amber Green; as well as numerous friends and extended family.

Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.          

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Vanhooser’s honor to an organization of your choice.
