Joey Keith Gantt

Joey Keith Gantt was born February 26, 1957 to Carl Jackson and Ocie Baker Gantt in Shelby, NC. He attended school in Shelby, NC, but left to serve 4 years in the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy he worked for the City of Shelby, NC in the Water Department, where he worked until his retirement. He was a Past Master of Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202 in Shelby, NC.

Joey is survived by two sisters, Wilma Toney and Donna Quinn; as well as a brother, Roger (Faith) Gantt. He is also survived by his wife, Evangline Villasenor Gantt; his children, Crystal (Christopher) Powell of Gulfport, MS and Justin (Myah) Gantt of Lawrence, KS. His children blessed him with five grandchildren, Ellie Powell of Gulfport, MS, Sydney and Makenzie Gantt of Shelby, NC, and Aspen and Denver Gantt of Lawrence, KS. He was blessed with two step-sons, Dennis Galisanao and Denmark Galisanao of Chicago, IL; as well as one step-daughter, Marion Gonzales. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. 

Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Jackson and Ocie Baker Gantt; sisters, Annette Cabaniss, Ruby Gailey, Jean Toney, and Vickie Costner; a brother, William Truman Gantt; as well as two grandsons, Ethan and Evan Powell. 

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.

Visitation will be held at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi, on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until Masonic Rites at 10:00 a.m.

A graveside service will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
