Mr. John A. McWaters, 69, of Gulfport, MS, died Saturday, June 18, 2005, in Gulfport.
Mr. McWaters was a native of Steeles, Alabama and had been a resident of Gulfport for the past 30 years. He was a graduate of Asheville High School in Steeles, AL and attended Troy State University. Mr. McWaters was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and Air National Guard. He was formerly employed with the Federal Aviation Adm. as an electronics technician. He served as past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Gunn Council #1583.
Mr. McWaters was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Pluma McWaters, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Garrett McWaters, of Gulfport; two daughters, Lisa Easterling and her husband, Richard, and Michelle Carr and her husband, John, all of Hattiesburg; a son, Paul McWaters, of Bay St. Louis; four sisters: Juanita Redden, Helen Battles and Mary Beatrice Davis, all of Alabama and Jean Little of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Richard Easterling, Josh Easterling and Charles Easterling; Garrett Carr and Chandler Carr and Xandria McWaters and Sky McWaters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at St. John Catholic Church in Gulfport where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to one's favorite charity.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.
