Mr. John A. Bishop, age 48, of Gautier, MS passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021. John was born on July 16, 1972 in Booneville, MS. He attended Mississippi Delta Community College, Law Enforcement Training Academy. He received recognition from FBI U.S. Department of Justice for the capture of the FBI’s top ten most wanted Adam Mayes, and numerous other awards and recognition. He was employed as a 1st Class Painter/Blaster at Huntington Ingalls, Member of Painter’s Local 1225 Union, Former Senior Police Officer at Guntown Police Department, Former Guntown School Resource Officer, Former US Marshal Deputy, and Former Patrol Officer at Booneville and Corinth Police Departments. His hobbies included fishing, cooking, painting and building home crafts, music, beach going and sightseeing, and pranking his wife. John is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Pearl Bishop and Conrad Bishop; brother, Tim Bishop; and by his sister-in-law, Debra Bishop. Survivors include his loving wife, Ruthie Bishop; children, John-Kyle Bishop and Ava Claire Bishop; sibling, Marty Bishop; a host of special nieces and nephews; and pets, Duke and Sookie. Services will be held at Liberty United Methodist Church in Booneville, MS and at Pascagoula Beach Pier in Pascagoula, MS. Date and times are to be determined. Donations are welcome to Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home in Downtown Biloxi, MS at 675 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bishop family.
