John C. Speed Jr.

Mr. John C. Speed, Jr., age 82, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in Pascagoula, MS. Mr. Speed was a resident of Ocean Springs for over 37 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in Ocean Springs, a member of the Joppa Temple and was a Sgt. in the Marine Corp. Mr. Speed retired from the Crawford Company where he was an auto adjuster. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Gilkey Speed. Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (Steve) Scharnhorst and Brenda Mitchell, both of Ocean Springs, MS., sister, Sara Mikovitz of Valdosta, GA., four grandchildren, John A. Thomas, Lauren Mitchell, Michael Jenifer and Sarah Mitchell, and two great-grandchildren, Gabriela Jenifer and Collin Schenkenberg. Visitation will be on Friday, July 16, 2010, from 10 am until 11 am, with an 11 am chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
