Mr. John Earl "Doc" Holliday, Sr. 72, of Saucier, MS, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008, at his home.
Doc was a native of Vicksburg, MS and attended schools in Edwards and Vicksburg as a young boy. He joined the U. S. Air Force and retired as Tech Sergeant after 20 years of service. After retirement he was employed with Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base as a training instuctor for 19 years. He made the Mississippi Coast his home for the last 41 years and he was of the Baptist faith.
Doc was preceded in death by his father, Lamar Holliday and wife, Minda, of Edwards; his mother, Anna Loid Stevens Poland of Vicksburg, MS; and a sister, Mattie Ruth Mooney of Winona, MS
He leaves his beloved wife of 50 years, Frances Lynn Holliday; a son, John Earl Holliday, Jr., of Biloxi; grandson, Justin D'Lynn Holliday of Saucier; granddaughters, Jolene Wolf and family of Gulfport, and Jeannie Hansan and family of Seattle, WA; a brother, Butch Holliday and wife, Charlene, of Shreveport, LA; two foster daughters, Donna Kaye Battaya and Stacey Dawn Battaya; and a foster granddaughter, Chelsa Williams;. He also leaves his dearly, loving and controlling dachsunds, Lulu and Daisy Mae; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Doc loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, gardening and just good old country living. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and his beloved "doxies".
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road, in Biloxi where friends may visit two hours before service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
