John Gregory Evans

John Gregory Evans, age 74, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at home with his wife, Vanessa Evans, and his son, Ben Harvie, by his side. John was born in Montreal, Canada on November 21, 1948. After high school and college, he spent his career in the US Air Force and retired on May 3, 1992. He received the AF Overseas Tour Ribbon for the AF overseas long tour, the National Defense Medal with one bronze service star, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the AF Outstanding Unit Award with four bronze oak leaf clusters and the AF Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster. His hobbies were bowling, family and grandkids, traveling, all westerns and Star Trek. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Edward Evans and Marian Ethel Hayden Evans; son David Evans; siblings Frank Evans, Stuart Evans, Ronald Evans and David Evans. He is survived by his spouse, Vanessa Burley Evans; children Sheri Evans Spicer; stepchildren Lisa Ann Phillips Petersen, Carla Ann Petersen, Catherine Petersen and Benjamin Harvie; grandchildren Micah Evans, Alexis Candiff, Brittany Bennett, April Lynn Landrum, Christina Mitchell Baker, Taylor Petersen; great grandchildren William Saucier, Nathan Blanton, Serenity Stubblefield, Summer Lynn Landrum, Lestat Maximus Baker, Ariana Spicer, Adelyn Candiff, Amelia Candiff, Gabrielle Spicer and many other grandkids and great grandkids; a sister Arlene Evans and pets Shorty and Maxie. Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 11:00 until 11:30 a.m. at the O’Neal Road location of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS.
