John Everett Frain Coffman, Jef, to those who knew and loved him, died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, and will finally find peace he so richly deserves after a long, hard battle with cancer.
Jef was born to Everett and Betty Coffman on August 9, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from Lawrence High School, he enlisted in the Air Force. Having served four years in the Air Force, he joined the Air Force Reserves in 1977 and has since been associated with the 403rd WRG Unit at Keesler Air Force Base. Jef was a member of Woodhaven Baptist Church in Ocean Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jef is survived by his wife of thirty years, Donna (Max) Coffman of Saucier; a daughter, Sarah; stepmother and husband, Harry and Carolyn White of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Christine Coffman, of Chicago, IL; brothers, Jay Coffman and wife, Anita, of Bowling Green, KY, Mike Coffman of Indianapolis, IN, Eric Coffman of Henderson, NV; nephews, Zachary and Jacob Coffman and niece, Ava Coffman all of Kentucky.
Jef will be remembered by his family and friends for his love of bluegrass music, the banjo, listening to Pete Fountain, his joy of reading, love for his family and friends, and his uncanny sence of humor. His smile will always be remembered and treasured by all who knew and loved him.
The visitation will be Friday evening, June 2, 2006 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport with the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service Monday, June 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
