John Isadore Fountain, Jr.

Mr. John I. Fountain, Jr., 81, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Friday, August 20, 2010, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Fountain was born in Biloxi and was a longtime resident of the coast. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and a WW II Veteran of the U. S. Navy. He received his private pilot's license in 1946 from Bay Areo in D'Iberville and served as a quartermaster on ore ships in the great lakes. He was the former co-owner/operator of Beach Manor Motel in Biloxi and a member of B.P.O.E. #606 in Biloxi. Mr. Fountain was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Millhollin Fountain; parents, Johnnie and Ida Santa Cruz Fountain, Sr.; sister, Mary Frances Johnson; and brother, Gary Fountain. Survivors include his sons, Kerry (Rene) Fountain, Sr., and Curt (Cassandra) Fountain of Ocean Springs; daughters, Paula Fountain and Peggy Fountain of Ocean Springs; step-daughter, Kathy (Bruce) Grantham of Ocean Springs; brother, Kenneth J. Fountain of St. Martin; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and the mother of his four children, Marietta Fountain. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America Association or the Special Olympics of MS. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of services.
