John (Johnnie) Gerkens Osley

John (Johnnie) Adele Osley, age 80, of Ocean Springs, since Hurricane Katrina, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009. Johnnie was born in New Orleans and grew up in Biloxi. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was a surrogate mother and dear friend to so many throughout the years. She traveled for twenty years as a military wife before retiring and settling back down in Biloxi to continue raising her children and spending time with her family. She loved sports and was an avid Saints and Braves fan. She will be missed dearly by so many. Mrs. Osley was preceded in death by her husband of fifty seven years, Paul Edward Osley; her parents, John and Alice Gerkens and a sister, Mary Louise Kopp. Survivors include three daughters, Paula (Steven) Allen of Little Rock, AR, Susan (Daniel) Dubaz of Ocean Springs and Kai (Billy) Taylor of River Ridge, LA; special daughter-in-law, Linda Osley; four sons, John Osley, Steven Osley, Daniel (Jeannie) Osley all of Biloxi and Richard (Cindy) Osley of LaRose, LA; seven sisters, Jean Bulinski of Culva City, CA, Alma Campbell and Anna Welch, both of North Augusta, SC, Tillie Mallett and Martha Dartez, both of Biloxi, Harriet Seymour of D'Iberville and Sally Gingles of Stonewall, LA; one brother, Robert Tubre of D'Iberville; eighteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dog, Candy. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs, where friends may visit one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity.
