John Patrick Pennell, age 29, of Ocean Springs, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021.
A 2010 High Honors graduate of Ocean Springs High School, John played catcher for the Ocean Springs Greyhounds and was a member of the 2008 State Championship Team. He was a member of First Baptist Church Biloxi. John loved the New Orleans Saints, Ole Miss sports, Fox News, and seafood- especially oysters, raw or grilled, boiled crawfish, and fishing.
If you ever went fishing with John, you better be prepared for seasickness, life endangerment, and staying all day and sometimes even into the night. If you thought for a moment that running out of bait was going to shorten the trip, you had another thought coming because he was going to throw the net and catch his own.
Born with an endearing sense of humor, John believed in the value of hard work, and he was always willing to help anyone in any way he could.
John is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack and JoRee Pennell, and by his maternal grandfather, Bruce Stewart.
Survivors include his parents, David and Kelly Pennell, and his sister Katy Pennell Sutton (Justin). He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Wanda Stewart, and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom will greatly miss him.
His memorial service will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi, on Saturday, May 29, 2021. Visitation will be held from 10-11am, with a service following at 11am.
Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of John Pennell.
