John A. Simmons

John A. Simmons Jr., age 98, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

John was born to parents, John A. and Anna Gertrude Simmons on August 12, 1926 in Biloxi, MS.

Mr. Simmons was a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Navy. He was aboard the USS Cortland APA 75 as a landing boat coxswain. He retired from the Government after 33 years, including 23 years with the USPS.

John Simmons Jr. was married to his loving wife, Margaret Ions Parker Simmons for 76 years December 25th. He is survived by his four children; Mary Margaret Peleaz, Louis John Simmons Sr., and Anna Marie Turner; 9 grandchildren, Charles Rosonet III (Lisa), Louis Simmons JR. (Emma), David Wilkerson (Jeannette), Kimberly Russel (Michael), Anthony Simmons, and Mark Simmons Jr. (Cheryl), Ashley Farmer, Charles Williams (Becky)  ; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great gradchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Mark Henry Simmons and grandson, Stephen Simmons.

He enjoyed his family, friends, and life. He never met a stranger and was always ready to offer quality advice.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 1:30pm at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
